This auction includesone comic magazine a 50's ditko cover gallery. This little-known magazine spotlights all those great mysterious covers in the 1950's by steve ditko! This rare book is copyright 1982 by michael wileman, featuring both pre-code horror and post-comics code authority sci-fi and fantasy. (not to mention the informative articles/editorials to supplement the high-gloss pin-ups, of nice display print quality, by one of the most legendary artists! ) i love the front cover, perfect to kick off the mind-blowing gn! If you are a fan of steve ditko or the great charlton titles that this book mentions, and want to own even the rarest issues, then i encourage you to bid with a vengeance! This was part of a high-grade collection of small-press, underground, and independent comics and magazines and graphic novels, which i bought in the mid-nineties from the meticulous 'mint-freak' original-owner in phoenix. There were certain rare items in his stellar collection i've not seen previously, or since, which i retained as part of my own collection, and other sleeper issues that were in such flawless shape that i kept them, too. I'm now parting out many of my beloved vintage rare items, including some high-grade oddball and key mag's such as this. Beautiful clean black & white images of most fo the great early charlton ditko covers! Not to be found in the marketplace, or in the reference resources i researched in not only the ovesrtreet guide, but also the weist guide, which list mag's and fanzines, and even in the fogel's underground guide, and the old jay kennedy price guide, but all in vain, ~ i cannot find any record of this cool magazine! If you have most of the great ditko comics, you deserve to add this showpiece to your collection! These have never been common!
The back cover is a cool pinup i've not seen before, and states copyright 1978 chralton comics. Tihs scarce issue is already well over a quarter-century old! The cardstock cover features ditko both on the front and on the reverse! Great line work on the cover and throughout yb comics-great, ditko! Any steve spider-man, dr. Strange, hulk, etc! Ditko fan will want to see our other current auctions, featuring other unusual offerings!
Auction starts at a penny and there is no reserve! It's in great shape, with no glue or tears or writing or long creases or tape any place! I'm selling off my collection of old magazines. All are bright and supple, with no brown pages or birttleness or coupons cut out. This rare find is a high-grade copy, with white pages that are all attached at both original staples, which are still shiny at a distance, it looks new, other than the cover-price of course! ($2.00 was a high price for such an item back then, perhaps explaining why it seems very few exist, that original price wouldn't egt you nearly this much in today's spendy graphic-novels at the local newsstands! ) under closer examination, there are some minor spine-stresses and a few light dings and subtle surface indentations. The condition of the back cover is comparable to the front. Every magazine is individually bagged and boarded, and there will also be plenty of protective packaging, to ensure safe delivery. This would be a great addition to the collection of any fan of long out-of-print back-issue mags, comics, ditko art & prints, and fanzines. These are comics magazines, which are larger and heavier than a comic book. Each mag's size is 8.5 x 11. We are now selling other comic-books, magazines, gns, and strips, and even rare artwork, with more to come in the coming days and weeks of this one.
