Bone Hand Colored Specialty Piece 1998 Jeff SmithBone hand colored specialty piece. All original art drawn by award winnnig artist jeff smith! Piece measures a huge 3 feet x 2 feet, and is signed by teh artist. Incredible art created for the mid-ohio comic-con in 1998 - certainly the largest and nicest? Bone piece in private hands. As anyone who loves the bone serise and/or collects original comic art knows, original bone art basically does not exist in the private market (other than 30 second con sketches and 1 or 2 charity pieces), because smith has either kept or donated all of the original art for the book to the university of ohio, and he refuses to do commissions or recreations. Anyone who has ever tried to find any original bone art knows what i mean! This piece of atr was created as part of a large display, featuring several artists, at the mid-ohio comic-con in 1998. Attached photos show smith actually drawing this piece of art at the comic-con - and also show the piece as it once existed, as part of a larger display. Sadly, it is now time to let this piece go to pay for other art an all too common theme for any art collector! The art is pen and ink with water color accents on thick foam board, and measures approximately 3 feet high, and 2 feet across.
Jeff smith and bone own no less than 10 eisner awards during the course of the series, along with 11 harvey awards. Time magazine named bone the best graphic novel ever published, and one of the top 100 american language novels (of any type) published sinec 1923. Jeff smith and bone have been the subjet of museum shows and documentaries, and warner brothers currently owns the film rights to bone and has committed to making a bone feature movie in the near future.
This is a large piece of art, that will need to be packed carefully.
